Transforming the Rose Garden at KGV Playing Fields
Maghull in Bloom (MIB) volunteers are passionate about enhancing the local environment and creating vibrant green spaces for everyone to enjoy. Their dedication is evident outside the Meadows Leisure Centre, where they have transformed the flower beds into stunning displays of colour and greenery. From selecting a variety of seasonal flowers to maintaining the beds year-round, their work not only brightens the area but also promotes biodiversity by attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Their efforts outside the leisure centre have made KGV a more welcoming place for the entire community.
Recently, MIB and Maghull Town Council joined forces to restore the beloved rose garden within the KGV Playing Fields. Together, we are working to bring this cherished space back to its former glory, creating a serene spot for park visitors to relax and enjoy. This collaboration demonstrates how community partnerships can foster a shared sense of pride and care for our local parks.
The restoration project is not just about revitalising one garden, it has the potential to inspire similar enhancements in other areas of our parks. The team’s vision for the rose garden included the planting of carefully chosen trees and plants, such as Sequoia and Pittosporum, which will provide year-round colour and require minimal maintenance. By summer 2025, these efforts will result in a stunning, long-lasting feature that will delight visitors for years to come.
If you’re inspired by MIB’s work and would like to support their efforts, they would love to hear from you. Whether you have gardening expertise or simply a desire to contribute, your help can make a real difference.
