Clearing Glenn Park

Update on Glen Park: Ensuring Safety and Restoration.

Hello residents of Maghull

We understand the concerns shared by the community about recent activities in Glenn Park, and we’d like to provide some clarity and updates on the situation.

Recently, several trees in the park were removed because they were dead and posed a serious risk to public safety, especially as they overhung residential properties. Public safety is always our top priority, and while the decision to remove these trees wasn’t taken lightly, it was necessary to prevent potential hazards.

The good news is that all felling activities have now been completed. However, following the recent storm, a branch on another tree has been identified as a risk and will need to be removed soon. Rest assured; we remain committed to monitoring the health of all trees in Glenn Park under MTC’s comprehensive tree policy.

In line with our commitment to the environment, we are actively replanting trees across several parks, including Glenn Park, to restore and enhance these cherished spaces for future generations.

We acknowledge that the use of heavy machinery during this wet season has left some areas muddy and damaged, but this was unavoidable given the time constraints imposed by nesting regulations. We would have preferred to conduct this work in summer, but protecting wildlife always comes first. The affected grass will recover naturally in the coming months, and any remaining wood chippings and logs will be cleared in the new year as soon as ground conditions allow.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain the safety, beauty, and biodiversity of Glenn Park.
