Dear Residents,
Maghull Town Council is considering introducing a range of measures to promote responsible dog ownership within our parks. These measures, guided by Sefton’s Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), have been developed in response to public feedback and aim to enhance the safety and enjoyment of our parks for all users.
Before finalising these measures, we want to hear from you. Your feedback is crucial in helping us shape these proposals to best meet the needs of our community. The PSPO is designed to strengthen existing powers and enable dedicated dog wardens to address offenses in a timely manner, benefiting all park users.
Proposed Measures:
- Prompt Removal of Dog Fouling: Individuals must promptly remove any fouling by their dogs.
- Limit on Number of Dogs: Restrict the number of dogs walked by one person to a maximum of 6 dogs, whether on or off the lead.
- Restricted Areas for Dogs: Prohibit dogs from entering playgrounds and fenced sports pitches, including multi-use game sport facilities.
- Leash Requirements in Designated Areas: Require dogs to be kept on a lead within defined picnic sites and family areas in parks.
- Leash Directive by Officers: Require dogs to be placed on a lead when directed by an authorised officer to prevent a nuisance or behaviour likely to cause annoyance or disturbance to the public.
- Leash Length Restriction: Dog leads used in the specified locations must not exceed 2 meters in length.
- Implementation Timeline: The introduction of these measures will begin at Dodds Park in November 2024, with the other parks to follow by the end of March 2025.
How to Provide Your Feedback: We invite all residents to share their views on these proposed measures. Your input will play a key role in our decision-making process.
Email: Send your comments and suggestions to info@maghull-tc.gov.uk.
Deadline for Feedback: Please ensure your feedback is submitted by 21/10/2024 to be considered in this consultation process.
To help residents understand these proposed changes, a series of maps outlining the restrictions in each park will be available on the Maghull Town Council website. Additional signage will also be installed throughout our parks.
