Dear Residents,
Maghull Town Council – Consultation Update on Proposed Dog Control Measures
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the recent consultation on the proposed dog control measures in our parks. Your feedback has been invaluable in guiding our approach, and we appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts and concerns.
The consultation revealed that while many residents are very receptive to the introduction of these measures, some expressed concerns about the impact these restrictions could have on dog walkers who live near or frequently visit our smaller parks.
However, it is clear from the feedback that a majority support the implementation of dog control measures, provided that proper signage is in place and that play and picnic areas are clearly defined and enclosed by fencing or otherwise separated to ensure that dogs cannot enter these areas.
Based on this feedback, we will use the remainder of this year to assess costs for playground enclosures at parks where they are needed and to determine the required signage. In light of this planning phase, the implementation of these measures has been put on hold until 2025. We anticipate starting this rollout at a larger park, such as KGV Playing Fields, as a pilot location.
Thank you again for your input, which has been essential to our planning process. I will provide a further update in early January 2025.
